Bastille Play TRNSMT 2019
British rock sensations Bastille hit the TRNSMT stage next month following the release of their latest album ‘Doom Days’.
As of February, this year the band had sold over nine million records worldwide. Bastille's first studio album ‘Bad Blood’, released back in 2012, went straight in to the number one spot in the UK Albums Chart. The single ‘Pompeii’ from the album, peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart.
Following this success, indie-pop four-piece released their last album ‘Wild World’ and this month dropped their third album ‘Doom Days’, which currently sit in the Top 100 Albums Chart.
Dan Smith recently collaborated masked DJ Marshmello for the track ‘Happier’, which became Bastille’s highest-charting single in the UK and the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
The band have recently spoken of freedom of speak in response to the divided times, following the release of fellow TRNSMT 2019 artist Stormzy’s new single ‘Vossi Bop’:
“Grime has always been lyrically honest. It’s good that you can have a number one single that says ‘F*** the Government and f*** Boris’. That’s really interesting. With so many countries being polarised, people rightfully see the importance of saying what you think to dilute the negative voices and balance the conversation.”
